After painting for a year, I became frustrated with my ability to draw original landscapes and still lives. My compositions seemed lacking something, so I bought several books on lighting, shading and perspective. This is one of my favorites as it is through, detailed and yet well organized and easy to understand if followed in order. I still have lots to learn from this book and am quite pleased with all I've been learning from it. Good choice, in my opinion!

Although I'm familiar with the "basic" rules of shading and shadows, I found this book to be helpful in refreshing my memory. It has good reference drawings and clear descriptions.
This was a gift for my brother, and he has told me that it was well worth the time he spent reading it because it gave him some new perspectives on drawing.
pretty basic
I bought this for homeschool high school art class. Had to totally rework the program because it's too advanced. Maybe for college or an art protege.
Another antique. Yes it can be helpful despite disappointment. I really could not recommend this book other than a curiosity.
This is not a good drawing book. There are much better available, like the E.L. Koller book.

This is a small book, about 5x8 with fine print. I have trouble with fine print.
I thought it would be a large book. I'll pay more attention to the size on future purchases.
This book is mostly text, with very little pictures , all of which were not of good quality. But the exercises would be great for a steam art class.
