Words of Marc D Brown The Poetry Collection eBook Marc D Brown
The poetry of Marc D Brown digs down into the most private levels of self and draws out expressive angst, fear, loss, and sometimes, a bright light at the end of the tunnel. It's difficult to choose a favorite poem. Three of them stick out in my mind: Bridges; My Ode to You; Pencil & Paper. From Pencil & Paper: "I wrote this life in pencil so I could always make a change..." Great stuff, that.A myriad of emotion shines through in this self-portrait of the author as a young man. It is not all about himself, though. He wrote a poem about violence on playgrounds and his compassion for others is evident. This is an interesting and well-done collection of poems. I think Bridges is one of the most original poems I have read in a long time.
In some ways, poetry is a way to exorcise personal demons and simultaneously share the burdens of the human heart with readers of like minds. Don't miss this collection from the impassioned pen of Marc D Brown, a poet who knows how to tell you how he feels.
Even in tragedy, there is beauty, and a good poet knows how to bring that out. Wonderful effort. (And, by the way, the formatting is also well done, which is not easy with poetry displayed on the Kindle.) A five-star read for this coming-of-age poetry collection from Marc D Brown. Snap it up!

Words of Marc D Brown The Poetry Collection eBook Marc D Brown Reviews
A reviewer sees a work from a one-person perspective, so, as always, do not let my star count override your judgement of content. More on the stars, counting, and my rating challenges later. Let’s get to the book.
Brown is sometimes coming from an unusual place, so his reader must be alert and grok what’s going on. I caught on for sure with Forever a Relapse, which captures a tough situation that is, in a sense, clearly a bit unclear. This would be great fun if it weren’t also tragic.
There is light at the end of Brown’s tunnel sometimes, as in The Confession, where we find this “If I put a smile on her face /even just for the night /and help pass the time closer to light, /then I can rest easy.”
For a scary insight into an experience, turn to Hangover.
For an interpersonal relationship, turn to I Am, where we find this “I am nothing. /Just another pawn, /that plays the game until you get what you want.” For a fine example of a sustained metaphor, turn to Hole in a Boat.
If you’re scrolling for the tiny carps, relax. Maybe a typo or two, or an echo. Nothing to worry about. Back to the good stuff.
Brown can give us an interesting metaphor, as in Thoughts, where we find this “Your touch, it shot straight through me /like a bullet tearing through air and time /your body’s the gun and I squeezed the trigger.”
Complexity occurs in some of these poems, as in The Argument. For an ‘experience’ poem, turn to The Strangest Way to Meet. For an interesting social commentary, turn to Retaliation. For complexity, turn to With Every Turn. There’s a lot to enjoy here.
All that said, how do I come up with three stars? I am a tough reviewer. My personal guidelines, when doing an ‘official’ KBR review, are as follows five stars means, roughly equal to best in genre. Rarely given. Four stars means, extremely good. Three stars means, definitely recommendable. I try hard to be consistent. This is an interesting and challenging work, easily recommended. Depending on your needs and mindset, your rating may well be higher.

I just picked up An Introduction to Marc D Brown today. I really enoyed the ideas his writting is about. There is a range of poems which range from "dark" to love. An entertaining read that I will recommend to others.
I loved the book, i got so into it i ended up leaving late for work..even though I wish it was longer I loved it nonetheless. I can't wait for another one of his books to come out
I love this and felt that many poems were reflections of my life! I wish they would have this kind of poetry in in schools,it would help open younger minds to other poetry. Also may help many people understand what other's may be feeling/going through in life at any age.
I read this book in just a couple of days after starting it.
"Marc D Brown" approaches many topics in his writing with a level-headed point of view. He puts his eye-opening poems together in a way that entertains and there are a few of his pieces that struck a strong chord with me personally.
Highly recommended.
Intense but beautifully written words or poetry. The author has great use of language and control of his poetic form. Most of the pieces were darker than I like, so that's why I gave it 4 stars. But these poems are beautifully written nonetheless. He has a great sense of producing imagery and emotion. Any poetry lover would enjoy this collection.
An Introduction to Marc D Brown is an intense look at the human emotions we all share--love, hurt, frustration, hopelessness, and the will to keep trying--through the lens of Marc D Brown's poetry. I loved the fact that Brown was willing to explore the darker emotions of life; poems like "Hangover" perfectly capture a feeling of letdown and disappointment that is much more than just chemical. Yet there's always the hope for growth and change, as in poems like Pencil & Paper "I wrote this life in pencil, so I could always make a change." Raw emotion pulses through all of these poems; definitely worth a read, and everyone find something to relate to!
