This book started out really well and caught my attention right away but frankly that is about it. SPOILERS! Kathleen is supposed to be trying to inherit her family Ranch from her Grandfather but has to prove that as a 'woman' she is capable of running it. She is 27 and has never been able to hold a job has no experience in running a ranch and jumps right into training horses for competition blah blah blah. Problem is that the author didn't set any of that up. Where did she learn how to do all of that? Where was her drive all of those years previous to the 7 months that she miraculously woke up with all of this knowledge to run a Ranch? Jackson is a brooding, poor me, my mother abandoned me when I was 7 and no one else wanted me character. Ok, so he decides to try to find his mother and why did she leave him. He knows she was a stripper and couldn't hold a job longer than a few pay checks so........ what's to find out? There is no mystery there so why try to make it one. Are you expecting us to believe he reached the age of 30 and hadn't figured out that sometimes people suck? Back to Kathleen, they are married and trying to keep how they got that way a secret and know that as soon as she turns 28 in one month they will go their separate ways. So why in the heck is she nagging the heck out of Jackson on what he is doing all day? It was like reading the same chapter over and over and over. I wish the author had spent more time in story development than rehashing everything and she took the 'we need to talk about it' wayyyyyyyy to far. I have absolutely no desire to read the story of the spoiled little half sister who winds up screaming at her grandfather 'I WANT MY MONEY'. I would have kicked her as4 off of the ranch and told her never to come back. What a terrible person. I found this book, repetitive, implausible, and frankly boring and am glad I don't know someone who nags like a champion (other than my ex which might be why I take such exception to that type of treatment'.

What a Texas Girl Wants Texas Wishes Book 1 edition by Kristina Knight Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I'm going to give a detailed review since there was nothing that helped me when I considered buying this book. In the end it was less than a dollar so I bought it but I probably wouldn't have if I'd know a few things. Basically the h and H find themselves naked on a beach in Mexico at the start of the story. We discover, after a few chapters, that these two after a drunken spree lasting a few days, these two have gotten married. Their first thoughts are to annul the marriage but it soon appears that the h will lose her share of her grandfather's ranch due to her reckless behaviour. As the story develops we learn that the main characters had know each other in college but hadn't seen each other for 10 years. The H returns with the h to the ranch to help her win her grandfather over and then he'll leave after 4 weeks.

+++Spoilers+++
This is the third book I've read this week where the h is constantly on the backfoot. She was besotted with the H in college and he knew it. He was a bit of a womaniser but rejected the h. We know his thoughts constantly through the book and we know he doesn't want a relationship with the h. He decides to sleep with her for the duration of his stay but then it's over. He does actually leave her too towards the end of the book but comes back. The h on the other hand is quickly besotted again and I just spent so much time feeling sorry for her. I'm sorry but this kind of unequal relationship doesn't inspire me when I'm reading a romance.

The other issue that I couldn't cope with is their complete lack of memory regarding the wedding. I keep thinking they'd been drugged as it would've been the only logical explanation for such total memory loss. Later bits and pieces came back to them conveniently.

In spite of my annoyance I have decided to download the next book because the teaser chapters in this book intrigued me.
Surprise! You're married! Oh, wait....you don't remember? Hmm...that could pose a problem...

What A Texas Girl wants features Kathleen and Jackson, and an interesting predicament they've gotten themselves into. They knew each other from college, and now they are face to face after not seeing each other for years.

Kathleen has dreams of taking over her ranch. She went on a vacation to Mexico, and woke up married! Okay, so there's a lot of stories with this kind of theme, but I can never get tired of them, especially if they are well written and funny, just as What A Texas Girl Wants is. I can relate to Kathleen because of her dysfunctional family. Kathleen tries to make do what she's dealt with in terms of the cards of life, but there are so many things she'd never imagined. Jackson being a part of her life, even if it's temporary to decide how they will proceed changes her view.

Jackson, ahh, A mystery to us all. He's got a past he's not very willing to share, and he's built himself a business from the ground up. He's moving on and doesn't care to look back. His encounter with Kathleen sure makes him open his eyes to possibilities he didn't think he wanted or needed.

I enjoyed this book! The characters are fresh, Ms Knight's voice is exciting and engaging. I also love that the couple went to UTEP (University of Texas El Paso, my hometown!)

I love how both Kathleen and Jackson had to grow to be better. They learned so much about themselves in the duration of this story and things wrapped up very nicely. Bravo, Kristina Knight, on a job well done with a sparkling debut. I want more, more more!
The phrase "You had me at hello" entered my head as I started this story because it just steps out with such fun and entrances from then on. What a catchy and entertaining love story! Hot too! Waking up naked on a beach with a sexy stranger (who's not really a stranger)that, wow, you married somewhere in a drunken frolic? Incredible. Who doesn't love an interesting start like that! Certainly appeals to everyone's "wish I had been a wild girl" side (smile).

Follow that by a sexy man that for all his pretenses at bad boy, he really isn't one - and the way that he finally shows it! Oh, sooo cool.

Nicely done, Kristina! Can't wait to see what you write next.

I expect I will wish I had an autographed copy at some point!
